Should All Social Media Managers Be Under 25?

The internet was abuzz this week about a blog post written by University of Iowa graduate student Cathryn Sloane titled “Why Every Social Media Manager Should Be Under 25.” The post sparked a firestorm of comments (the overwhelming majority of them negative), as well as an interesting debate about social media, the role it can play in business, and the principles behind its effective management. Whether you agree with Sloane or could not disagree more, the conversation surrounding the post is certainly worth checking out.

The Role Email Plays in Marketing is Changing

Earlier this week, Pardot published the results of our survey on how B2B marketers are using email marketing. Over 100 marketers were surveyed and the results were surprising. The results showed that nearly 70% of B2B marketers aren’t using email marketing as their primary lead generation tool.  Instead the role of email appears to be shifting more towards lead nurturing and development. Google Shows us the Future?. In Kansas

Although it flew under the radar for the most part, Google finally launched their much anticipated Google Fiber project in Kansas City on Thursday. Fiber is an ultra-fast 1 Gigabit-per-second Internet and TV service, reported to be 100 times faster than the average broadband connection. This new service stands to disrupt a number of industries, and can be a game changer for SaaS products like Pardot. Expect no load times, instant updates, and more powerful features.

Visual content has quickly become the most sought after marketing medium, with infographics as the new must-have items for content teams in almost every industry. However, the barriers of design skill, data access, and production tools make it very difficult for the average marketer to create infographics. That is what prompted Pardot to write a helpful article highlighting some of the best free tools for creating infographics.
