I’m a huge fan of New Year’s Resolutions. What better time to decide to learn a new skill, quit a bad habit, and re-invest in yourself? This year, we challenge you to include Pardot in your list. Why not resolve to learn how to do something new (have you set up grading yet?), quit a bad habit (be honest – how many templates do you have sitting in your uncategorized folder?), and reinvest time into configuring your account for optimal success (have you ever reviewed your account’s technical set up?)?
Of course, resolutions are more easily conquered when you don’t have to go it alone. I didn’t sign up for my new gym membership without a gym buddy lined up (Hey, Lindsay!), and with that in mind, we on the Pardot Customer Success Team want you to know we’re here for you. This is why we’ve launched our brand new Tune Up Kit. It is your trail guide, roadmap, and pal to getting your marketing efforts back on track.
Not sure where to start? Below are our our recommended resolutions inspired by our Tune Up Kit:
Resolution 1: Review your account’s technical set up
Do you know what was set up when your account was originally implemented? If it’s been a while since your Pardot onboarding or you inherited an account that was already set up, it’s worth a peek under the hood to make sure everything is working as it should. While most accounts get everything taken care of at the beginning, it never hurts to take a second look and ensure you’re set up for success.
Do you have Pardot tracking code on your website? If not, you are missing out on valuable visitor activity tracking and can’t take advantage of Page Actions.
Is your email authentication configured correctly? If not, your emails are much more likely to be flagged as spam by ISPs and your email deliverability will suffer.
Have you whitelisted Pardot IPs internally? If you have trouble receiving test emails, your company may need to whitelist Pardot’s sending IPs (otherwise it can look like a phishing email to your internal servers – nobody wants that!).
Resolution 2: Learn a new Pardot skill
The most common thing we hear from Pardot users is “I don’t know what I don’t know.” Auditing your account is a great way to get a full view of everything your team is using in your account, as well as everything you could be leveraging but aren’t. Two features we recommend taking a look at:
Nurture leads with Engagement Studio: Do you have any programs currently set up? If so, take a look at the content – is it all up to date? Are prospects still running through them? If you aren’t using Engagement Studio, give it a go! Check out our Engagement Studio overview to get started.
Automate the journey with Page Actions: Looking for a way to automate off of page visits? You may miss this nifty feature because it’s found under the Admin tab in Pardot. Page actions can be applied to any page on your site that has Pardot tracking code. We suggest starting with high priority pages, like your pricing page, to automate follow up actions such as user notifications.
Resolution 3: Start taking advantage of your Pardot resources
Feeling like you could use more help to take your usage to the next level? Don’t forget you have your great Pardot resources at your fingertips.
Have how-to questions? Make your first stop the Pardot Customer Hub. This is your one stop shop for finding step-by-step guides, blog posts, and accessing additional help.
Looking to connect with other users? The Trailblazer Community has a group just for Pardot users! With thousands of users, it’s an amazing community to ask questions, discuss use cases, and share pro tips.
Want to walk through your account configuration with someone? Our Health Assessment Accelerator is a strategic 1:1 engagement with a Success Specialist to make sure you’re set up for success. Learn more about the Health Assessment here.
