Pardot uses first-party cookies for tracking purposes in almost all cases.
Exceptions (based on how browsers handle cookies; not related to Pardot):
- The client chooses not to set up a vanity CNAME
- On https pages
This setup is standard in the marketing automation industry — Pardot and its competitors’ cookies behave the same way.
Pardot ALSO sets a third-party cookie for redundancy (in case of either of the two situations above). Third party cookies are not necessary for tracking in any way.
Pardot cookies store no personally identifying information whatsoever — only a unique identifier.
