The biggest mistake companies make after launching their social media campaigns is immediately trying to chase down prospects. Even though the main goal of social media is of course to generate leads, it is important to remember to take a step back, not think about ROI for a second, and grow and develop your new found network. If you do this there is no doubt that results will follow. There are two things that companies often overlook with their “green” eyes, that are a valuable part of social media.
1. Listen: Social media is a great way to hear what people are saying about your company. Whether positive or negative it is important to listen to what is being said about your company, employees, and products. It also allows you to see what people are saying about your competition and even what your competition is saying.
2. Learn: You need to take advantage of the criticism you are hearing. It is an advantage to be able to hear what others feel about your company, and you need to grab that opportunity to fix any problems that are being talked about. References are extremely important, especially in B2B sales, and social media allows prospects another outlet in which to find references that you cannot control. So it is best to keep everyone as happy as possible.
