Award-Winning Culture Scores Pardot ‘Best Workplace’ Honor

This past week, Pardot was named Atlanta’s best place to work in the small business category for the second consecutive year, an honor presented by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution’s “Top Workplaces” program. Awards like this are perhaps what makes me most proud about being a part of Pardot and ExactTarget.

When Pardot was founded, we came up with a crazy hiring idea that focused more on culture than on the number of talking points on a candidate’s resume. We wanted employees who embodied our core values — employees who were self-starting, positive, energetic, and supportive of the people around them. To help attract these employees, we implemented a few benefits that were a little more unusual, like ping pong tables, a flexible telecommute policy, free breakfasts, and more. It was a bit of a gamble at first, but our hiring strategy paid off and brought in some of the best talent in our field – and they’re all still here!

Even with all of those fun perks, time and time again we hear that the most important thing we offer is a place where employees feel empowered to do great work that they are passionate about. We’ve found that creating a work environment that minimizes stress and encourages playtime goes a long way toward improving employee motivations. We want our employees to look forward to coming into work every day, because that’s what brings out their passion for what they do.

But our culture isn’t just for our employees — it’s for our clients, too. Since day one, creating and maintaining a great customer experience has been a part of our vision of success. Having devoted, helpful, and positive employees is one of the biggest ways we accomplish that. Our goal has always been for our passion to translate into our services experience, and being awarded a 2013 Silver Stevie Award for customer service is a good indication that we are on the right track.

Last October, we became a part of ExactTarget, a company with a culture strikingly similar to the one we have here at Pardot — which is a rarity in enterprise software acquisitions. As a part of ExactTarget, we’ve been able to expand our resources to serve our clients. We’ve also been able to add many new employee benefits, including stock options and an enhanced continuing education program. We couldn’t be happier to have found a company that shares our view of culture as a competitive advantage.

I would like to extend a huge “thank you” to our employees, clients, and ExactTarget for making Pardot such a great place to work. It’s certainly a team effort, and we’re looking forward to going for the three-peat in 2014!
