We have just released our newest connector. Olark is a very easy to use business chat solution that lets your reps chat with visitors and prospects who are on your site and record the conversations. Chat with visitors on your website from your desktop, your laptop, your iPhone, or your Blackberry. They work with standard chat (IM) clients (like iChat, Pidgin, and Meebo) and services (Google Talk and Jabber) which means YOU get to decide what software to use.
The Pardot connector allows you to
- Automatically track chats as activities that show up in a prospect’s record
- Display a link to the visitor/prospect profile to the agent while chatting with the visitor
- Link to a transcript of the chat from the prospect activity (opens in Olark.com)
If you are already using Olark, the integration with Pardot is simple. Just enable the connector and Pardot takes care of the rest automatically. If you are looking for a chat solution, Olark is very easy to set up and they offer a trial.
Notes:
- For Pardot to record the chat as an activity you will need to have both the Pardot tracking code and the Olark code on the designated pages.

Absolutely awesome! I was looking at using Olark but was waiting for something like this. My biggest issue with most chat clients is that you can either have a solution you can style and theme but it has no integration or you can get one that lets you integrate with your current solution but you can’t theme it.
This makes Olark the best of both worlds right now. Very cool.
Thanks for the feedback. We like Olark because it is very simple to set up and it integrates with your existing chat tools (Adium, iChat, etc.). Let us know how it goes!
Just loaded this up. I assume for the conversation to be recorded as an activity, Pardot has to be able to identify the visitor as an existing prospect as well?
That’s right Melissa. They either need to be an existing prospect or they need to covert later (e.g. we need some way of identifying who they are). We do store the activity though so even if they convert in another session (as long as they haven’t deleted cookies) you will see it.
How does Olark compare to LivePerson?
Olark and LivePerson have a lot of similarities, but Olark stood out to us for a few reasons:
* The chat client is part of your web page, so your users won’t have to worry about managing browser windows.
* Integration with almost any existing chat client (including Google Chat) means that no special operator software is required.
* Olark targets SMBs and they also have some options that we know our clients like, including upfront pricing and short term contracts.
They have a lot more details of their features over at http://www.olark.com/portal/features
Outstanding!
Thanks Karl! Let us know how it goes.
