Site Search

Concept

Prospect Insight can crawl your site map, serve up relevant search results for your visitors, and  provide reporting on their queries. Nothing shows a prospect's intent like his searches on your website. If someone clicks around finds his way to your pricing information that is valuable to know, but if the prospect types in "pricing" as his exact search term, that is a much better buying signal.

Creating a Site Search

  1. Click Marketing in the left navigation.
  2. Click Site Search in the resulting sub-navigation.
  3. Create a Name for your site search that will be used internally (e.g., "Knowledge Base Site Search" or "Main Website Site Search").
  4. Designate an optional Title for your search results page that Prospect Insight will host for you.
  5. Select a campaign with which to associate your site search. Typically this will be your general website campaign.
  6. Enter the Sitemap URL for your Google XML or HTML site map. Prospect Insight will crawl all pages listed on your sitemap. If there are pages that you would not like to index, you should remove them from the sitemap.
  7. Select a Max Index Size for the site search. Professional Edition and Enterprise Edition have a different limit for the amount of indexable pages across all site searches. If you only plan to have one site search set up, you can select your account's maximum.
  8. Select the Index Interval best meets your business needs.
  9. Select the Layout Template that will control the styling for your hosted site search results page.
  10. Optionally remove any words or phrases that you do not want to appear in the search results. For example, many organizations have their company names in the title of every page of their site (e.g.., "Pardot -- Contact Us"). You may not want your company name showing up in each search result.
  11. Add any styling or HTML that you will display if there are No Results Found.
  12. Click Create Site Search to complete the creation process.

Testing Your Site Search

  1. Prospect Insight indexes site maps nightly. Wait one day and then return to the Site Search section of Prospect Insight.
  2. Click on the name of your site search.
  3. Ensure that the Index Size (number of indexed URLs) meets your expectations.
  4. Enter a sample query into the Test Site Search field and click Go.
  5. This will display the results that your prospects would see if trying the same query.

Integrating Site Search on Your Website

  2. Click View form code to see the HTML code that should be implemented on your website.
