Manually Setting up Custom Fields in SugarCRM

This entry is part 4 of 5 in the series SugarCRM

Concept

If you would prefer to install the fields manually, you can follow the steps below rather than installing the package above. Pardot has several custom fields that can be synced as well. To sync them, create the following fields in SugarCRM for Leads and Contacts. Nothing additional needs to be done in Pardot. Note: Fields will automatically be appended with ‘_c’ once they are created in SugarCRM.

Manually creating custom fields

Create the fields for your Leads by going to:

  1. Admin
  2. Developer Tools
  3. Studio
  4. Leads
  5. Fields
  6. Add Field

Add the fields to the Leads interface by going to:

  1. Admin
  2. Developer Tools
  3. Studio
  4. Leads
  5. Layouts
  6. DetailView

Contacts

Create the fields for your Contacts by going to:

  1. Admin
  2. Developer Tools
  3. Studio
  4. Contacts
  5. Fields
  6. Add Field

Add the fields to the Contacts interface by going to:

  1. Admin
  2. Developer Tools
  3. Studio
  4. Contacts
  5. Layouts
  6. DetailView

Which custom SugarCRM fields won’t sync with Pardot?

Relate fields:

  • A relational field is a field that links to another object. We do not sync with arbitrary relational fields.  User assignment and Account are two special cases.

Datetime fields:

  • Sugarcrm handles timezones by storing the time using GMT. While Pardot can sync with this field type, it is important to note that depending on the timezone set for your instance of Pardot, the value may differ between the two systems.

Notes: If you are having troubles syncing a field, please visit the article, “Why won’t my field sync?
